General Information Regarding Curriculum and Homework
Pre Kindergarten through Grade 5 Students
Students participate in the following types of activities in Spanish:
Calendar
Stories
Songs
Vocabulary Bingo
Culture Studies
Pre Kindergarten through Grade 2 Students
In addition to the activities above, students learn Spanish through the online Calico Spanish Program. Pre Kindergarten through Grade 2 students are in Level A. Students in Grade 2 are in Level B. Parents can review the basic program by going to calicospanish.com. It is possible to sign up for a trial subscription. There is no formal homework for students in Pre Kindergarten through Grade 5.
Grades 3 - 5 Students
In addition to the activities above, students are all enrolled in Duolingo. Duolingo is an excellent online program for learning Spanish. Students spent part of their class time working in Duolingo. Many students have excelled using this program and have gained important language skills.
Students are encouraged, but not required, to work on Duolingo at home. The program is web-based and can be accessed anywhere and anytime. Students can work at their own pace on this program.
